Does anyone know the pinout of the new legacy cable(Y) especially the serial com connector. I cannot get the system to operate my asc's.

How many ASCs are connected to the Legacy base?
Have you seen this post?

It talks about a driver problem on the data line when using the Legacy
system and too many connected devices.

Yes Jo i have since I kinda got the whole thing started with dale. Will recheck it for info however and thank you.
Chief,
I'm still interested in how many you are trying to drive. Cause I have
6 ASCs connected to my TMCC base and was wondering, if I would need
to get a driver, if and when I upgrade to Legacy.
Joe
Not sure what the asc requires, i suspect it requires less than the tpc. The new tpc requires about 2 ma. The Legacy base can source about 7ma...the new dz2001 driver could use about 10ma. So that's sort of the problem with the z driver and anything else. To confuse the issue, these requirements are not frozen in stone and vary as to variations in the actual gain and sensitivity of these devices. But the bottom line is that the average capability of the source and needs of the devices is too close for a good result for every configuration. So a booster amp will make this part of the system solid...and make the upcoming connect to the computer from the Legacy base solid as well since the devices will not heavily load the base output.
I should repeat here that Lionel probably went from the higher power output of the command base to the true RS232 low power output of the Legacy base with the upcoming computer serial connect in mind. The unintended consequence of this is lower drive power for all these devices.
Joe I am trying to drive 2-tpc-300's 10 asc"s 6 bpc's and 4 amc's. That said I am going to hook up only one asc for troubleshooting purposeses and go from there. If you would like to talk e-mail me. chief
You may want to consider Dale Manquen's command port booster he recently developed. Apparently, the Legacy command base doesn't have near the serial port drive of the old TMCC command base, and for more then a few devices, you will probably need to boost the signal.
John I am talking to dale today, I jut wanted the cable pin-outs for troubleshooting purposes but thanks for your help.chief
