Just opened new Legacy Control System Base 2 , it is the 330. Setting up new layout and all this new to me. Opened cab 2 box, installed batteries in remote, and remote will not charge. Charge on back is on, it came off. Get two flashing red lights on base charging indicator. Checked batteries w/VOM and no volts. Tried on/off plug, batteries in/out nothing.

is this normal for batteries to take many hours to charge? Several posts rate these batteries as poor to not working.

My instruction manual is V1.6.

Can control trains on iPad with Lionel app.

Read more posts here. Update, installed regular batteries and remote turns on. TURN CHARGING OFF ON BACK OF BASE.

I wouldn’t send this to Lionel if this is the only issue you are having. A lot of people don’t use the base to charge the controller, myself included. Either use some alkaline batteries or use good rechargeable batteries and remove them from the Cab 2 to charge them.

Double check to make sure the batteries are installed correctly. Seems silly but we’ve all installed a battery backwards.

Les, keep us posted with your results. I haven’t heard of charging problems with current runs of the Legacy system.

The new batteries arrived that GR recommended. They just arrived today. Installing.

Added new batteries to cab and now no charge indicator with flashing red lights on bottom of cab, when on base. Will let it charge and report.

Looks like batteries in original box were bad. Will report if fixed. Drain new batteries and recharge to see if works.
