After doing a search and reading a few threads, I'd still like to settle some issues that concern me:

  • It seems there is no problem running a Legacy loco with my old TMCC Cab-1. That is true, isn't it?
  • Sure, I won't have all the features unique to Legacy control. But I plan to update to Legacy control in the not too distant future.
  • Are there any issues that I should know in advance before making a Legacy locomotive purchase?

Thanks for any comments.

Nope no issues, and legacy locos still peform better than TMCC locos even when legacy locos are run with TMCC. Lionel has done a great job of "including" the old TMCC user. Instead of a quillable whistle, you'll have a variable whistle. Chuff intensity will increase automatically for legacy steamers and RPM levels will respond to throttle increase automatically as well for diesels. Any added smoke features will still function under tmcc. The only thing I would be concerned about is that once you get one legacy loco you'll want another
