Put my Legacy M1A in the track and applied power to the track and right away the soumds started up. Engine will run with the control knob but has no whistle horn crew sounds and some lights. Seems like it is not getting the watchdog signal. Any suggestions

I thought that MTH DCS was the only system with a "watchdog signal".
Any suggestions
You’re probably right. I’m not real knowledgeable about all this. That is the way it acts like a MTH engine that misses the watchdog
Do you turn the Legacy base and remote on before applying power to the track ?

HW, while the TMCC/Legacy doesn't have a "watchdog" signal, it has a similar function. If the TMCC track signal isn't present when powering up, the engine will drop into conventional mode.

Define "applied power". Was it a continuous 18 VAC that was switched on, as if turning on the power switch on top of your PH-180 which is directly connected to the track?
Or, or you have a Legacy PowerMaster between your PH-180 and the track and apply power to the track going from 0 to 18 VAC by smoothly spinning the knob on your handheld?

This sounds like the engine is not communicating with the tender.
There is possibly an issue with the infra red drawbar. Check the alignment or you could have a broken wire to the i.r. lense.
Mike apply power means turn legacy base and remote then power the track with Z4000
Tried re-set or re-programming under a different engine id # ?
