Guys, I have a legacy mikado that as of three weeks ago when last run worked great with no issues. I finally got back to the train room to run things. I primed the smoke units and came back 10 min later and started to run my mikado when I got the three blinking cab lights from it. Shut it down and opened here up. Smoke unit looks new and was not over filled. Took it apart to check the resistor it was ok. Took off the fan motor and hooked it to a nine volt battery and it ran ok. There was no fluid by the way in the fan impeller part. Put the fan back in place checking for proper impeller spacing and replaced the wick while I was in there. Plugged it back into the engine and fired it up. It then worked as normal. The only abnormality was it would not shut off with the remote. Tried fresh batteries in the remote. Still the same result. After a few times trying to turn it from hi to low to off and back again with the remote it now functions so as normal. Love the trouble code light blinks by the way as I was able to isolate the problem fast and examine the unit and proceed with the proper repair. Not a lot of guess work thanks to the blinks. What do you think caused it to act up like that in the first place?

Haven't noticed john but will check tonight. Good point! The cab 2's glass screen buttons are quite different from the old cab1. Any idea as to how they work? I have never taken the remote apart to find out. As my dad once said if it ain't broke don't fix it! Just thinking some one like you or ggg, marty might know since your the electronics engineers here. Thanks for the help!
