I know I've seen this posted but can't find it.   I bought a used Vision Hudson and it didn't have the Legacy orange module that came with it when new. I now have a brand new, blank black Lionel module and would like to put on it all the data that came on the original orange module. Where do I get that data and how do I put in on this black module?  If the data is unavailable, I'd be glad to mail someone the black module who has the Vision Hudson orange module and that can clone it onto my module.  Thanks!

Peter,

My SD70ACE came without the module, I called Lionel and they sent me a knew one. Also, you could check the Service and Support site, they may have the data file on line.

Send them and email at talktous@lionel.com

They are very responsive. They might even be able to walk you through the process of downloading the data file. You won't need to return it, but the number is below.

jojofry - yeah, its not the $5 that concerns me.

I called Lionel - they said they do not carry that module. The woman I spoke to went on to say that they are doing away with the modules.

GRJ - excellent suggestion! So basically take the LCS track piece from my VLBB box and add it to some fastrack and run locomotive over it? And then do what exactly?

Thanks,

Peter

Once you've run across the LCS track (of course you have to install it first using the bits that came with the VL-BB), then using the LSU (Legacy System Utility) software, you can create an engine module.  I create a multi-engine module with all the engines in the base so when I go somewhere I have the engine particulars ready for anything I run.  Read all about it in the LSU manual below.

Lionel. Legacy System Utility. User's Guide. Version 2

You do realize that there are fairly easy ways to integrate the sensor track into other track systems, right?  Here's the sensor track integrated into Atlas track, this works for Gargraves or Ross very similarly.  This was just a "test" so we tossed some ballast around.  Some proper ballasting and you hardly know it's there.  With this, you can automatically grab the parameters as you drive around the layout.  In addition, you can use the sensor track capabilities to run some neat routes.

Sounds like a PIA. Means if you don't have a layout at home right now, you need to make a small test layout. I like the modules, quick and easy.

Guess I will go by that super expensive fast track to build a test bed layout.

Ugh. Keep the modules!!!

No is stupid easy now.. Program engine drive over the track done! Its almost as easy and DCS.. No 4000 million orange modules to keep track of.I leave them in the box and dont touch them)

If you don't have the module or a sensor track , as John mentioned above, you can simply manually load it selecting the features via the knob and buttons on your legacy remote. It only takes about 15 or20 seconds.

Its no more difficult to manually load legacy info than it is to log on here and ask how.

Sure it is - especially if you don't know what or how to load.

Once you give your hudson an i.d. # , its all multiple choice from there. See page 56-58 in the  legacy control system manual.

Enter a name of your choice and the road number

Select  STM, for steam, LEG for legacy control, and LRS for legacy railsounds
