Wouldn't mind finding another one of these. I've had the 8510 since 2008 but never really ran it that much. I found the 8512 at York for like $225. The GP9 they made with the Trainphone setup was bonkers priced. 

I have a set of NYC ones too, powered and dummy. I really don't want to try painting those safety stripe pilots though! Unless you have a good masking tape recommendation. 

Looks good, Have two GN GP9s that came today. Started on the MTH GP30 then hopefully this weekend the GN units.  

Thanks, I should mention I didn't try to mess with the ride height. These seemed ok/good enough/not worth the hassle.

That was the funny part. When I did the MTH engines, the height was right on with the Lionel units that I had converted. Who knew?

Skyrim Remastered put a dent in my train time this weekend but I got these done last night. I think I am going to order plain wheelsets for my Legacy diesels. They seem to struggle with some of my long insulated blocks I use for my signal triggers, especially if running light.

Is this the pilot paint job you are talking about? Have had some success duplicating this either with Microscale striping sets for another diesel or having someone such a RailGraphics print them up. The cost easily overcomes the mental anguish of attempting them a stripe at a time!

Yes, that would be the one. Not sure I want to get into that right now since I have a few other projects I'd like to finish.

I am trying to locate plain (non-traction tire) drive wheels for the Liondrive trucks. Anyone have any luck getting them? I can only find full truck assemblies on Lionel's site. 

Wow, Norm!   Just watched a few of your latest YouTube vids--fabulous!  You and Don Smith (Industrial Models here on the forum) hold each end of the bar at the highest level.

I have the same issue with my Santa Fe Zebra. I think I MIGHT touch it by hand, then weathering the heck out of the pilots and call it close enough.

BobbyD, no desire to do that, it just doesn't look cool in my opinion. Those are Scenic Express items supporting the bridge.

Norm finally getting to this. Great job. The video was great. You layout, the word that comes to mind is wow!

How soon? getting ready to drop order . Also for the GP7/9 mounts that are full length. You need to Noch them in order for them to fit.

No notching should be necessary...

I do tend to make them just a little tall (long?) to sanding the bottom might be needed, but that's because I want a tight fit.

PS - Don't hold your breath for the FA pilots; they're going to have to be cast instead of printed.

Thanks for posting that. Looks like way too much stuff to correct on that GP9. Wouldn't mind finding an Atlas GP7 dummy to ride along with these.

Thanks to Norm for his feedback, I got the test prints for the thinner ones based on what he said and here's the results;

Looks good. I just noticed that the rivets didn't come out on my batch. Also did a test fit using the Atlas GP35 mount on the Atlas SD 40. With some minor changes they will work.  Will send email later when finished.  Happy Thanksgiving.

You're right, and I just made them taller, and they should be more noticeable.
