I recently purchased two sets of the new o31 switches. According to the manual, no controllers or wires required when using Legacy control system. But no mention of what to do with the controllers and wires. Do I simply detach them from where they are connected under the switch? I can't test this yet until I receive the Legacy control unit (on order).

Could you provide the P/N?
With the new command switches, you do not need to use the controller so yes, you can detach it.
Then there is a little black button on the roadbed top. You press this to put it into program mode and then program the switch into the Legacy remote as a SW, choosing whichever number you want it to be.
Dave has it right. The controller can be removed via the 4 small screw terminals holding the controller's colored wires on the underside of the switch.
For programming, for use with the Legacy remote, the small black button on the top surface is depressed which causes the lantern light to flash. you then assign an ID number to the switch via the Legacy remote and that's it. The command switches can be remotely controlled individually or you can combine them into routes so any number of them throw with a single command.
Thanks, Dave & Graz
