why do my legacy steam engines not smoke when first turned on and sitting still, but after running and you come to a stop it will keep smoking. also with the new aux2 menu with 1.51 can you set the engine so when it is turned off the lights will all go out?

As far as the smoke is concerned, the voltage "ramps up" when the loco begins to move.
My Legacy locomotives turn off all the lights when I shut them down. What specific model do you have?
the c&o 2-10-4, and the fef.
I don't think the lights will go off on the FEF, thats a "first generation" legacy loco. I have the m1b and a legacy berk, these light up when track is powered. The "lights off until the loco is addressed" is a feature added to later locomotive offerings.
The 2-10-4 has all of the lights out with the exception of the number boards. I don't think the lighting menu allows for turning the number boards off.
* BTW keep plenty of fluid in those smoke units they are thirsty especially if you run at the high setting. Often times poor smoke output is an indication of a lack of fluid.
I lied, apparently only the newer ones do. I got out my Conrail SD-80 from a few years ago, and it doesn't shut off the lights. The lighting menu does control the ditch lights, but that's about it.
The aux 2 lighting menu does not turn off the tender markers on any of my legacy steamers. I can turn off the mars light on my milwaukee s3 but that is all I can get the icons to do. not sure what all the rest of them are for. any one know?
