My Atlantic E6 unit stopped heating. The resistor reads about 6 or so ohms but I also read no voltage at the resistor. The fan still pulses. I opened it up and looked around. It looks like the fly wheel might have rubbed some feeds to the unit. Did the reset thing as well.

So would the lack of heat be the triac mentioned in another thread. I also noticed there is a regulator board jammed up under the smoke unit heatshrinked. I have traced the smoke unit physical on/off switch to this little regulator board. Could it be this? The reason I ask is because this stuff is so jammed in there I just assume not pull something out I don't have to and would like to find the most likely culprit.

Haven't really had to mess with these much other than re-wicking. Also both the R2LC board and the regulator package are a bigger dollar items.

Any help is appreciated for a simple things to check otherwise I'll take it to the LHS.

My Legacy E6 Atlantic is by far my favorite. Sounds and looks are incredible. Sad to say I have had many problems with it. My LHS replaced it at first. The day I go it home the smoke did not work. Replacement worked fine for a week then smoke stopped. Lionel repaired it. Again worked for a bit then stopped. Lionel has worked on it four times and right now it is in transit to them again. Warrant about over. Despite this it is still my favorite. I'll take the good with the bad.

I guess I should update this.  I actually got the part sometime ago and finally installed it 2 weeks ago.  Worked fine.  The E6 has very little room and the board I got had to be modified slightly by removing the heat shrink and re-routing the wires and then re-heat shrinking it.  I used small wire nuts to join most of the wires.

The E6 was never a great smoker like my other Legacy engines.  Still isn't up to what the others are but it is working so I'm a happy boy.

Thanks for all the help.
