Legacy remote velocity throttle not smooth in some spots

I would call the LHS and if no joy, Lionel.  It should be smooth. There was a batch when they returned after being absent for while that had electrical issues with the velocity throttle.

I have three remotes that all have a perfectly smooth rotation all 360 degrees here.  If you're feeling something "grinding", there's a problem.

I thought the legacy remote was supposed to have detents /clicking throughout the rotation?

This coincides with speed steps and keeps the knob from drifting which was an issue with the old TMCC remote.

 At any rate, the lack of resistance at the beginning of the knob rotation may be the real problem

It does have subtle detents, but you have to listen pretty closely to hear any sound.  The issue is that it changes throughout the rotation, that is clearly wrong.

Exact same problem here with a brand new Cab-2.  Turning the speed dial is smooth with appropriate  change in speed until one section (about 30 degrees) where the speed actually reverses!  I'm planning to send it back to Lionel Services.  I'm sure they will make it right.  Just haven't had time in the last few weeks.

UPDATE: Went to my LHS and they swapped out the remote out of a new box and this one, and I can say the new remote is working just fine.
