Some of the WAD cars are single dome.

The Hobbyhill reefers are a really accurate ACF type II with the deep fishbelly center sill... and pretty common though not always reasonable.  I paid $195 for my first one in 1994 when they came out, and they stand up well against today's brass.

If they would have made an AB brake version with replacement steel ends and roof the cars would probably fetch 500 bucks today given the rarity of late steam/diesel era reefers.

Good info to know on the Drakes. I have only ever seen 2 & 3 dome versions, and not many of those!

I have a couple reefers, bought mostly for the paint jobs!

I did manage to send a mail to Bill M who said he no longer had any of the version info but he did remember making both 6k and 8k single dome versions.

You do absolutely stunning work Bob.

Just curious of what type of paints and sealers you used since the cars of yours that I have are perfect.

I did all the painting of the Hobbyhill cars that were sold decorated.

Fer gosh sakes please stay away from Yahoo. I've enjoyed subscribing to this thread and have learned a LOT re re-entering the brass market. I kinda like it here since I also mess with O-27 and conventional 3 rail...while simultaneously appreciating the fine craftsmanship of brass models. Leaving the topic here also exposes the brass market to other general hobbyists that may know nothing about the topic.

This is a great venue for discussing brass train cars.

As crappy as the new Yahoo Groups are , my interest in starting a Yahoo group specifically for O scale brass is in that many folks already have Yahoo userids for groups and in that venue we can also buy and sell things within the limited scope of O scale brass.  AND yahoo masks email addresses and allows restrictions to the group which limits spam and gives at least some security and protection to personal information.

Certainly there are/may be better solutions but I will do that one so that I don't have to have a host computer and play DBA at night.

You know guys I can make a blog forum on http://coloradooscale.org

This is our club blog and I can easily make a full forum page.

http://coloradooscale.org/club-news/

It's state of the art interface is easy to use. I tell you what I will build the page tonight and post the link here. I will make it public so anyone can join and I would love to see the wonderful things we could talk about.

I thank you Erik!  (sorry for original typo)

Blogs are very good for exchanging information... but they don't do well at basic security for buying and selling... or at screening posters.

It's a toss up because Yahoo does limit us to "existing customers" where blogs have much better visibility from the web.

O scale brass trains are now up and running!

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/g...nversations/messages

Yeah, I don't like Yahoo either but it's free and quick.

I have it set to moderation for new members and it's a restricted group so we can at least control what comes in and out.

Hope to find out how to link it to O scale model trains... so far I  can't find the path for that and lunch is over so I gotta get back to work to pay for that brass!

Just noticed that George Kohs posted an update on 11/5 indicating that the N5 project was close to "final inspection".    A while ago I inquired about adding another cabin to my order and he indicated he would have to check on availability... and this he mentioned in the update.

OscaleBrassTrains is open for business on yahoo groups...  been on the road so no time to chat there.

They're here!  Protocraft 1937 boxcars with working Duryea underframes.

Just stunning and accurate models, from the common Santa Fe Bx-27 through the Frisco and WM cars.  From what I can tell the WM car was one of the last of the 1937 cars made and the 28201 series had some of the last of the standard 5/4 Dreadnaught ends.  Norm just keeps banging them out of the park.

On a sad note, Rich Yoder posted on the P:48 list that Henry Bultmann from Car and Locomotive Shop passed away on October 20th in Johnstown PA.   His legacy in working with Boo Rim to bring forth some of the best O scale models ever produced will live forever.

Well it's time for a 2016 headliner.   I sent a request to George Kohs regarding adding another cabin.  His responded yesterday and indicated that the project was done and is currently "on the water".

I guess I can empathize with him, dealing with a project team half a world away is challenging.   And losing your builder and starting anew ain't any fun either.

Anyone have one of the PRR Queen Mary cars and care to share the particulars?
