Happy 4th of July 2024!!! We need to celebrate freedom and so lets show our red white and blue trains. United States flags on layouts counts too. Bicentennial, Freedom Train, Preamble Express, or just a mix of red white and blue freight cars.
Here is a K-line bay window caboose I found at the Berea Ohio Train Show a few years ago. Totally patriotic!

I don't have any patriotic trains and my layout isn't even close to complete having started it over after a move last year BUT I have been wanting to pull out a few people and something other than pickups to populate my towns. So, today I give you a 4th of July parade along Main St. The crazy thing is that when looking for every day parade loving citizens, I discovered that I have an abundance of track workers, station personnel, construction and city workers, dock workers etc. It's a good thing that most of my layout will be industrial.

Thanks! Right now they are 1 3/4" BUT what look like red boots are the posts for mounting them and are about 1/4 inch making the marchers a scale 6' which isn't bad. When I first started collecting whatever I could get my hands on about 15 years ago, I came across this band which appears to be made of wax and I assume is for decorating cakes! For today I mounted them into foamcore. Not sure if and where they will be once the layout is done but they will be fun to bring out for holidays along with the firetrucks.

Wow, Happy Fourth of July Everyone, this is a day to sit back and reflect on how great a country we live in, America, the home of the free and the Brave, thank you all out there that served for our Country. We also have the best hobby in the world. Beautiful pictures everyone. God Bless the USA.

Back in the 70’s, I’m not sure if the 4449 Freedom Train engine was done in O, and I probably couldn’t afford one if it was. But I could afford this Lionel HO version (the only HO item on my roster)…

It came from the factory that way. it was a boxed set with engine and caboose. when you hit whistle button it plays the music. k-line.

Sure beats the "Diesel Horn Sound" I've got in my K-Line GG1 in ARR "Golden Spike Centennial" livery. Reminds me of the Legacy SD70ACe presidential locos that play "Hail to the Chief" using F3 on the CAB-2 handheld.
