Lets See Your Latest Engine Purchase

This little guy was purchased yesterday specifically to run on our club modular layout. The small children are always asking "Thomas, Where's Thomas, I want to see Thomas!!!". Well, telling them "Ben killed Thomas" just didn't go over too well .  Ben's "Thomas" made a spectacular swann dive from about 4' onto a concrete floor. It wasn't pretty. Decided it was cheaper just to buy a new engine...

Thankfully the two little passenger cars survived. I also picked up an expansion pack with 4 freight cars. I'm sure if Thomas is not supposed to be pulling freight, one of the children will let us know.

Nicole I was trying to find one I had in the 60`s ,It was based on the blue pullman but have made do with this one.

It was like this Hornby version but in O & Ooooh that wonderful plastic smell!

I sure that I remember there being one back in the '60s too. But I can't find any mention of one online.   I know that I had great fun with my Hymek though. With a little bit of imagination, and squinting just a little, it could pass for a Blue Pullman.   I hope that you get lots of pleasure from it. And you can use rechargeable batteries nowadays.

Thomas pitched in to pull freight from time to time in Sodor. Remember, Sir Toppenhat called Thomas a very useful engine.

Just finished a set of 4 WM ABBA Units in rail-king. Me thinks that they are a tad... runt compared to the Premier engines.

Brand new 256 Electric Loco from Lionel Corporation Tinplate.

Just picked up a nice original set this evening headed by this clean 2037 from a lady in town. Lots of history!

As we have no room for any more PW trains, I'll reluctantly be posting this on the FS board later tonight after I take photos.

Latest purchases.  The Williams sale at Trainland was just too good to pass up.  The NW-2s and the Alaska GP38 were $99 each and the NYC GP9 dummy was $64.

Those are nice running engines too.  One of my favorites when it comes to postwar runners.

The most recent engine I purchaed was a Legacy UP FEF in Greyhound to pull my UP Passenger cars.  great Engine need to get Legacy cab 2 to quill the whistle.  Jon

 Bought the new Lionel RS-11dummy to run with my MTH powered RS-11...

Had been kicking myself about this one -- GE ES44AC Demonstator/scale-wheels. Fortunately, the MTH product locator showed CharlieNassau as having one, so I gladly took it off his hands.

I have enjoyed seeing all your latest or favorite engines.  Hunting and finding new stock is always fun. 

Since my May 12 post I have received a new loco from a friend who is going into assisted living.  She called and said there was box of trains from her sons childhood on her carport.  It had a scout junker and AF junker, both in parts. 

The best thing in the box was a Lionel 2023 ALCO AA.  It works in forward but I can not get it to reverse which ok by me.  It is a better runner than some of my other cheaper Lionel ALCOs.

Happy Father's Day!  I have been looking for this loco since Atlas released it.  Didn't have the funds then.  Found it just before Father's Day.

Not exactly a purchase , an aquisition by force perhaps.  When I came downstairs at 2 am, I found this AEC Geep hooked on to my recently repaired TMCC crane, apparently trying to steal it.  Fortunately for me, it's glow in the dark finish gave it away and both it and my crane are now back in my possession.  All we found was some green slime on the seat and the smell of a well tuned pullmor engine.  I hope she stays awhile, although I'm a little worried about more visitors...

Went to the Model Railroad Shop in Piscataway tonight to buy a magazine and walked out with this....

Not even close to any of the roads I model....but the price was to good to pass up.

Milwaukee Road #2383 to pair up with #2338.  A match made in heaven.  It was going to happen, so why wait, right?  Both these are very smooth operators with great contrasting sounds.  I hope they like each other, because they are going to be spending a lot of time together.  I love 'em!

My latest is a prewar 1588 clockwork engine.  In fact I bought an entire set.  It came with the original key and it runs great.  I saw it at a train show and had to have.  I had never seen the set before and I have been doing this a long time.

#2 Was this year's anniversary gift from my wife, Carol.  I told her about them being on sale and never dreamed she'd go and get one.  She is really amazing and the engine is pretty nice too.

I don't usually go in for MTH Premier stuff...but I saw this yesterday at  The Model Railroad Shop and was able to pick it up today for only $300.00 plus tax with a matching dummy.The unit only has 13:47 hours on it !

I'm reluctant to post these due to all of the controversy, but heres my new B&A Lionel (k line) legacy berkshire. I will now duck and dodge the tomatoes.

Newly aquired- Norfolk Southern # 102, which is the engine for what I'm calling 'The Original NS Heritage Series' set.  The 2001 SS set.  Lionel was ahead of it's time.  The engine is a brute.  Totally sound and solid and I love the basic black & white scheme with the ponies front & back.  It begs the question ' Quien es mas macho?'

I don't get the controversy thing ?...it look like a very nice engine. 

We've acquired a couple of PA/PB sets of Lionel Warbonnets recently am will be selling one of the B units soon to end up with the customary ABA engine. Four Alcos is quite a  large engine!
