Does anyone have any techniques to remove old glass bulbs from post-war accessories (e.g. 153 Signal) when they seem to be stuck? Preferably without breaking the glass or deforming the socket?

Sometimes I had good luck using the thin rubber pads, you use in the kitchen to remove jar lids

Slip a piece of rubber or plastic tubing over the bulb, and use the tubing as a handle.
Be sure you understand how the bulbs come out! I think the 153 was made in both screw-base and bayonet versions as well. The 253 and 353 used 2-pin lamps.
I’m pretty sure they need to be pushed in first and then turned left.
Thanks for the suggestions. I used shrink tubing on my needle nose pliers and it sometimes worked. I think old bulbs sometimes get fused into the socket which makes it almost impossible to remove.
