Mike like I said I do see a use for it, and what you have done is that. It's great item to get children into the hobby.

I guess my mental problem ( LOL ) is I'm 63 and not thinking about kids or grand kids as I never was blessed.

But with they way your talking for grand kids and all is great. Also to me it would be great for someone who doesn't have a lot of room and wants a train around the tree, and doesn't want all the other items to get it set up.

I never said I didn't see a use for it just I'm under the impression a lot are switching over to it and basically down grading.

By the way I like conventional and some TMCC. I do have a legacy lite set also but basically I run the original TMCC with power masters where needed and TPC-300/400 when needed. But at present no layout. I'm about to get a room about 17' x 25' . But need to do some work before that becomes usable for trains.

Lion Chief Plus takes it up a notch, with fan driven smoke, electrocouplers, and better detail.

And also adds a great cruise control system.

For those seeking ease of operation, just wanting to relax and run some trains without getting too complicated, LionChief Plus is ideal. Perfect for holiday layouts, too. You can run them at the same time with your TMCC or Legacy engines on the same track if you wish, as well.

One person's downgrade is another person's comfort level.

There really is nothing in the Hitchhikers Guide to Model Railroading that says every model railroader must have the latest and greatest hi-tech razzmatazz to run his trains.

Rusty

I have 4 LC+, one Legacy (F7 set), one TMCC (CC 773), and quite a few PW locomotives up to 1969 vintage.  I run all of them, though not all at one time of course.

I see the Legacy/TMCC system products as necessary to compete in the model train market w/ HO and N;  but I also think that only a few HO and N hobbyists are likely to "switch"- I too at one time had trouble getting past the third rail.  NOW two rails looks weird to me!!

O Gauge three-rail is NOT scale modelling.  The magic of it (to me) is that it RUNS so well, is not "fiddly", is especially attractive to those of a certain age, better used by those with small or 'non-limber" hands or "long-distance" eyes, LOOKS good even if not "scale", and offers a collecting aspect not present in the smaller scales.  In this environment- Lion Chief (and LC Plus) are perfect.

So, in reality O gauge SHOULD be far more popular than it is, IMHO.

Actually a little clarification.  For people that still want to run conventional, you do NOT need to use the remote on Lion Chief PLUS engines.

That is one of the features of the Plus engines.  They can be controlled conventionally by a transformer.  There is a switch to switch back and forth.   So you can run it conventional one day and use the remote or app another day if you want by a flip of a switch.

LionChief only locos have to use their remote or the app.

Either will work on a Legacy layout with Legacy engines and Lion Chief/Lion Chief Plus running at same time.

Excellent ! I only have a Lion Chief set and conventional ...

this Fairbanks Morse nut and lover of Train Masters can hope a LionChief + TM  in Lionels , and my , future ...

Santa's elves dropped something off for my daughter today! You're all right its sooooo easy to use.  My eyes are opened!  Really if I had known that you could run Lionchief on any powered track I wouldn't have been a sceptic to begin with. Plop and go comand control!  There is definitely a future for this type of control.  As it evolves and becomes more capable I'm sure more folks will get on board with it too, hang in there early adopters you'll be able to brag soon I'm sure!

LC and LC+ are in their infancy.  It is the way of the future.  It will continue to grow.    I look at the older systems and they are still what I considered "wired".  Nothing we use now is wired.   Not phones, laptops, tablets, smart homes, all wireless.   ALEXA, TURN ON THE LIGHTS.   ALEXA TURN ON THE TRAINS. Next they will be using 5 GHz with twice the controls

!  Now where did I lay that remote?

Yeah, and don't forget to paint the controller while you're at it.
