LionChief Plus problem | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Purchased the Lionel #6-82963 Rio Grande LionChief Plus Mikado last year. Worked fine in the morning yesterday. In the afternoon, the remote was blinking and did not respond to any commands. Turned off all power, installed new batteries in the remote and restarted it up. The engine takes off a full speed and had to grab it before it hit the first curve.

Layout powered by PH180.

Anyone else have this problem - and how to resolve?

With the locomotive taking off at full speed, I'd make sure the Transformer (conventional/command) switch didn't inadvertently get toggled.

The switch is highlighted on pg 5 of the user guide:
