Hi,
I am looking at a nice prewar Lionel 1684 Columbia. But, the engine does not have a draw bar. Just a long thick pin, that extends down from the floor of the cab toward the track, about half an inch or so.
Were they manufactured this way? Or, is there an engine draw bar, that is suppose to be hooked underneath the cab to the the pin, and kept in place by a bolt or fastener on the bottom of the pin?
If it was manufactured this way, and the engine was not suppose to have a draw bar, then is there any easy fix to install a drawbar that attaches to this pin, so that the engine can haul any standard tender that has a tender draw bar? I don't want to have to buy a special tender that was designed to be pulled by this engine only.
Thanks for all info.
