I have been trying to find one of these to add to my system so I do not have to use the 2 CW80's I have, and to connect them to the CAB2 and the TP400. Any clue why they are on backorder?

Dennis, I bought three over a few months on eBay. They are significantly less cost than new. Since they don't have moving parts I wasn't worried. There's one listed there now. I don't know why they're backordered.
Thanks, have had bad problems in the past with eBay and have shy'd away from going there the past few years.
But I can try again if necessary.
The only issue that I ask the seller about is the date code on the bottom of the transformer. If you go to lionel.com you will find a service document about a phasing problem the earlynunits have. It says that if the unit has a date code later than 2000 48 it won't have the problem.
they might have one;

might do a google search for "lionel 6-22983"
The phasing issue was not that big of a deal. Lionel offered a fix or if you were only using one you wouldn't notice it anyway
Try trainworld they show them.
Also highly recommend you use the Trackside lockon shown just under the brick.
It works very well for saving your system from shorts/ derails.

Aren't these like potato chips? You can't stop with just one!
