Lionel 2004/2011 4-8-4 Northern pilot wheels

On Lionel's 6-38055 (2004) or 6-11332/3 (2011/2012):
Has anyone successfully changed to larger wheels on the front, pilot truck? The 4-8-4's pilot frame looks similar to the one on the J3a Hudson. However, those are made different than the pilot frame on earlier J1e Hudsons which had a scale wheeled version available.
