I just took delivery of the 2 car Amtrak 21" set   item 2227220.   They have more of a gold tint to them then the existing four car Lionel set  I have which is much more silver.

Someone help me out with this......my first reaction was a little disappointed....is this just to represent variance in cars....intentional, not intentional?

Yea, not to belabor something that as they say "is what it is"....I understand I have different runs different sets etc, etc.   However, i have the Atlas, MTH and Lionel Amtrak cars, heck I even have other road names ACL, FEC Southern, they are all basically the same silver color.   These two cars just stand out as completely different.  Just was curious if this was something Lionel set out to do....or just one of those things....

I guess I can either keep them and move on - or send them back.

thanks for the thoughts...

Bogus! The last run of MTH Premier Amtrak sets were a shiny chrome color and definitely DIDN'T MATCH the first several runs of Amfleets which were painted silver.

If anything, Lionel is trying to play "catch up" in getting that shiney stainless steel look like MTH and now Atlas O have done to their Premier passenger sets.
