Lionel 21" 2 car Amtrak set

I think its just because they are from two different runs.  Ones silver and the others have the new stainless steel \ chrome finish. Lionel has lot of color issues. Very hard to match cars from previous runs apparently, for example the Norfolk southern ocs cars.

This happens all the time when Lionel does separate runs of things. Big disappointment was the Norfolk cars that came with the class A, as stated above.

Um you are comparing two different sets. The 3 stripe is the heritage set with no obs. The pointless arrow is the original steam heated set.

So I don't expect the two different sets to have the same color.

Yea, not to belabor something that as they say "is what it is"....I understand I have different runs different sets etc, etc.   However, i have the Atlas, MTH and Lionel Amtrak cars, heck I even have other road names ACL, FEC Southern, they are all basically the same silver color.   These two cars just stand out as completely different.  Just was curious if this was something Lionel set out to do....or just one of those things....

I guess I can either keep them and move on - or send them back.

Like I said, I think they were going for a chrome / polished stainless look in these, it is something new they have been doing in locomotives

Okay now I am just venting ….they are just flat gold.    I love the smooth sided car but …,,

Bogus! The last run of MTH Premier Amtrak sets were a shiny chrome color and definitely DIDN'T MATCH the first several runs of Amfleets which were painted silver.

If anything, Lionel is trying to play "catch up" in getting that shiney stainless steel look like MTH and now Atlas O have done to their Premier passenger sets.
