I just received my Lionel Pool Service 2 Pack heavyweight passenger cars - Lionel #2127240. The lights worked for about 10 seconds on both cars and then the lights were out! I’m operating a Lionel Legacy command environment. Track power is still working because my Legacy engines work fine. I verified that the lights switch on each Pullman car is turned on. Has anybody else had this problem or do I just have a bad 2 pack of passenger cars? Thanks for your responses!

I talked with Charles Ro, my Lionel dealer, today. They had already received a call from another customer with the same problem. So, they unboxed one from their inventory and found the same light failure on their test track. They’ve put a call in to Lionel since it looks like all of the current run of heavyweight passenger cars may have the same problem!
Did you try using the Legacy remote to turn them on?
Hi Marty,
I’m not sure how to use my Legacy remote to turn the lights on since these cars don’t have a program/run switch to assign a Legacy ID number.

A little more feedback for you. I just received my L2127250 Pullman Pool Service 18" sleeper 2pk ... 2-tone gray cars whereas your L2127240 2pk is green.
I verified the light switches were "on" ... cycled the switches couple of times them placed the cars on my Gargraves track.
Upon powering up my track, lights came on at ~12 volts and were at full illumination at 18 volts. I let the pair sit on tracks a minute then pulled them around my 11x15 ft oval track via Legacy engine about five times. No hiccups in lighting ... steady, no flickering, and the lights stayed on. Must have had the cars powered for about five minutes in total.
You might pass this positive info on to Charles Ro ... I bought my pair from them too. Don't know if there's a gremlin awaiting me in the future, but so far so good. Will let you know if the lights go out sometime later. Perhaps the L2127250 cars are good to go.

Tom
Ah. Sorry I thought they were a Legacy unit.
Peter,
Did you get any answers on this issue? The lights on one of my new Pullman cars won't work either after about a week. I have the green pullman pool service set.
Thanks,
Jerry
Jerry,
Yes, most (or all) of the green Pullman Pool Service 2-packs that were sold by Charles Ro had defective boards controlling the lights. I’m not sure about the 2-packs sold by other dealers. My 2-pack went back to Lionel for repair with a return authorization number. Lionel took care of the problem and they work fine now.
