Maybe I'm missing something but the new Greenbrier engines, specifically The Chessie version, WERE on the delivery schedule for end of July of this year, and that was maybe a week ago or so...NOW they're omitted from the schedule but the matching passenger cars are still listed. Anyone hear anything about this?

CHARLES RO a still has them available 07/10/23. We’ll have to wait and see….
Welcome to the world that is the LIONEL Shipping Schedule.
At the suggestion of others. I've been using the "Lionel Store" website for shipping eta's.
It's updated unlike the stagnant shipping schedule. It currently says the greenbrier is due 7/12/23.
The L1s just arrived, so maybe the greenbriers arent far behind.

This is normal. When an item is just above to arrive or has arrived and about to ship soon, it gets removed when they do schedule updates. It is actually a good sign, because it means they will be at dealers soon! I used to think the same thing (was it canceled) but then noticed the pattern when things were arriving.
The Lionel Store has been the most accurate way of telling when something is shipping. That is the only source I go by now as it has been accurate 98%.

Good to know for the future. Thanks Sean. You waiting on anything?

I didn't even consider checking there and you're totally right about the stagnant schedule. It wasn't updated until recently; still had shipping dates of 2022 up until a month or so ago. Thank you Rick.
So question. What does out of stock or backordered mean at the store for items that have not arrived yet, but we know they are coming. I.E. Aberdeen cars and some of the scale Mikado's?

Since it has arrived and is "Sold Out" at the Lionel store it no longer shows a delivery date. I would start checking with your dealer as they are probably arriving shortly. They were posted on Lionel's Facebook page so we know they arrived at Lionel.
Here is an example from 2023 Volume 1 of the Big Boy Ship Date...

Now that we have the beautiful locomotive and the cars (2 sets by accident), was there any thought to a matching “Caboose?” Yes there are only PAX cars right now. Perhaps a freight variant with a matching colored C&O Caboose. Diversified usage given this is a fantasy paint scheme anyway…….thoughts??? Tank cars, gondolas, flat cars…..the ideas are endless and can build off present production cars with a new deco look and more affordable cars to build a freight consist.
