My daughter gave me a Christmas present of a scout and 3 tin Pullman cars. I wanted to add light(s) so I purchased a parts 2642 that was lit. I swapped the truck and added the bulb to the original Pullman. Static, it looked great! Tried to run it and it keeps tripping breaker on Lionel power brick. ( I run nearly all command scale stuff).
So the question... is it the roller or the sliding shoe causing the problem?  I assume others have had the same issue.
I am inclined to remove shoe since I don’t use it.

thanks

Bill

Its the sliding shoe hitting the guard rail (which then derails the truck and trips the breaker).

Try this: put a track pin in the end of the guard rail, and bend the end sticking out down until it touches the tie. Essentially, you're making a ramp to push the shoe up and over the guard rails on the switch.

If you dont need it, removal of the shoe would also probably do the trick.

I've found putting a dab of Goo on the upper side of the shoe and on the area on the truck where the the shoe will make contact with it; then heat the area with a blow drier until the Goo bubbles; finally push the shoe into the truck holding it there for 15 - 20 seconds. The shoe should now clear the guard rail -- problem solved! If you should ever want to return the shoe to its original position just remove the Goo with the tip of a hobby knife or something similar.
