If the lamp lights, ensure you have continuity through the vibrator coil from the pickup roller to ground. Earl G.
continuity? i've taken the cab off, the wiring appears to be intact. The lamp glows bright, and i can hear the coil buzzing. even at high voltage, it won't spin. i've manually lifted and dropped the coil platform a little, it made no difference.
It’s probably the rubber ‘washer’ at the base of the rotating beacon. The little rubber fingers are probably worn out. Do a search on this forum for ‘Lionel rotating beacon’ and you’ll find plenty of suggestions.
