Hi Lenny, A friend gave me a 1992 vintage 6-18018 complete in the original box with the original "Operating and Maintenance Instructions" for "Southern 2-8-2 Locomotive and Tender W/Operating Headlight and RailSounds". I have scanned the 8-page document printed on essentially 8x11 (but a tiny bit larger) paper. The alignment of the print-to-paper was slightly "off" and I have slightly edited the alignment of the scanned result.
Page 4 of the document discusses the “RailSounds Switch Connection”. I have a KW transformer and fortunately the box, as received, included the #10-5906-001 Sound Activation Button.
Since my set up is currently wired for Legacy Operation (18 VAC), I am still in the process of wiring a temporary setup with the KW Transformer. Therefore, I have not yet “run” the 4501 Mikado.
I hope the attached User Manual helps others as well.
I have also been searching for Lionel’s Original List Price for this 1992 product but have not been successful.
