I have a new in box, (however pretty old) 6-2316 remote control gantry crane.

the controller operates rotation of the cab, and hook up/down.

Both motors operate (you can hear them move). However the cab does not rotate and the hook does not go up/down.

I have an exploded view sketch of the crane. I have taken one apart many years ago and remember that it was difficult to get apart and back together, however I was ultimately successful.

I also have another gantry crane, and the rotation doesn't work very well, sometimes turns, sometimes does not. T he pinion has very little tooth contact with the bull gear. I suspect this is the same problem with this unit as well.

My questions are:

1) is there anything I can do to get it working, prior to taking it apart?

2) once apart, should I add "red & tacky" grease to all the gear meshes? the manual states that you do not need to lubricate as regular maintenance. However, red & tacky should do no harm.

3) Is there a way to improve the gear tooth contact between the pinion and bull gear for cab rotation. (I would do this for both of my gantry cranes)

4) is there something else I need to know, your advice is appreciated.

Thanks: JK
