Lionel 6-84239 Western Maryland 3 Truck Shay #6 (Legacy) and Track Grades

I am curious as to what track grade is reasonable to expect the "Lionel 6-84239 Western Maryland 3 Truck Shay #6 (Legacy)" to be able to navigate with a modest length consist. In general, would these model engines handle grades at least as steep as the prototypes? and... am I correct that there is no "scale grade" -- grade is grade... ? Poking around on the Internet reports that Cass grades include 9-10%, and that the portion of WM where this prototype served was equally steep... Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
