I picked up some items in an auction.  It included a 736 Berkshire.  I'm a little confused on it as the headlamp is not blackened.  I don't remember seeing one like this with the shiny metal headlamp.  It has diecast trailing truck, and heat stamped white letters.  You can see from the picture that the flagstaffs are round and NOT painted black.  Except for the broken marker light, the engine is really in like new condition, although no box and a little dusty.  It just kills me that the marker light is broken off.  I'll have to find a proper boiler front somewhere.

What is throwing me off is that it came with what appeared to be a 2046W-50 Pennsylvania tender in the auction picture.  However, the tender is actually a #18068 Die Cast Century Club tender, meant to go with the Century Club S2.  Of course this won't work with the 736 as it needs the electronic tether.

I'm just trying to determine the year this engine was produced because it does seem a little to nice to be pre-1954, especially with the odd headlight.PXL_20240831_173826166.MP

I think that is a repro boiler front. The bare aluminum headlight came on the very early 50s Berkshires. But that era would not have had the wedge between the barrel of the headlight and the flat, cast-in piece below it. Also the remaining jewel seems to be the darker green you see on repros.

More details would be needed to narrow it down (such as the finish on the side rods, cab number design, etc).
