Yank are you saying you have 18 Autoracks total?   2 sets of 7, and two  2 paks='s. You are going have a great looking train. I think the  new Lionel cars will mix well with the MTH Autoracks. I ran some last night and thought they looked good.

You see? My girl says my humor is so bad (dry) that no one thinks it's funny. Now You have to explain. Must be getting worse???

Joe NO it's not dry humor it because YOU R GETTING OLDER

Let's keep it real folks.  Perhaps these may carry a "premium" for a few years after the initial inventory goes out the door... just like the TankTrain cars.  But now that Lionel is re-running them, I'd be surprised if anyone is foolish enough to pay a premium for the older cars anymore.  I grabbed one of the new tankers that just came out around Christmas, and it's a very nice car that holds its own in comparison to the ones produced several years ago.

Buy 'em 'cause you like them... not because you think their gonna be something ultra-desirable years down the road.  Just sayin'.

David

David, maybe he was just referring to the "investment" in having them for his future enjoyment.  I'm not sure his reference was monetary.  Sometimes items become hard to find.  I'd say that's pretty real!

Bill,

I'm glad that hockey is FINALLY back.  I watched the Blackhawks on TV today smack the defending Stanley Cup Champs, L.A. Kings.  I'm going to go watch my beloved 'Hawks against the Stars next Thursday night here in Dallas.  Hope you had fun at the Wings game tonight.

As far as the ETD on the BNSF auto rack goes, I guess I'm going to try to modify it much like Charlie did.  I wonder if the price drop on this set shortly after it was presented in the catalog was due to the unprototypical tank on the loco and the non-functional ETD after they were introduced.  Lionel mentions a working ETD in the servicing section in the back of the manual.  Nevertheless, I love this set and am glad that I bought it.

Charlie started a GREAT thread with those new Autoracks.

No, thank God.  It's blowing gales tonight up here.  I'm off until spring.

Re: the Wings, I'm hanging out in the basement and the Wife has command of the TV.

Well, the Wings had better GO!  And get it together.

Charlie should kick the other car outside and take over the whole garage.

David I think you've watched Conspiracy Theory too many times.  I re-posted your comments as I had already replied to your comment.  It's really as simple as that.

I ran the auto racks today and plan to get some video up later.  I'm returning to topic here.

Charlie very nice video and still pictures.

Thank you for posting.

WOW the Autoracks were really moving on the straights. How did they look and handel in the curves?

I liked the Santa Fe Steam and Diesel conbo. Do you kbow which mfg's passenger cars those were? It looked like it had led's in the cars.

How was the attendance at the event?

Pops, the racks did pretty good.  We had a couple errant coupler openings and the cars are sensitive to dips in the trackage.  We had one spot with a very severe dip that caused a derailment.  I spotted that and corrected the dip. After that the cars seemed to track just fine, even in the curves at  speed.

I'm not sure of the manufacturer of the Santa Fe cars, perhaps Jake will jump in as he friends with the member who owns those cars.

Attendance at the event today exceeded 3,000 according to the organizers.  I know we had families surrounding the layout all day.

Charlie glad the racks did pretty good. I don't think you added any weight to the cars. I had some cars that I put into the racks and they fit pretty well. I think they may have been some old K-Line cars and trucks.

Sounds like you had very good attendance, From the Video.pictures it did look like a good crowd.

Jake thank you very much. The passenger cars look very sharp

just to clarify an earlier post....

show me a 2 rail CSX SD70ACe by MTH for sale....how about some of their twin stack sets..... sure then there were the short supply of Lionel tank train cars....

I think it's great to get what you want when you want it. It may not be there later on.  Who knows how many of these cars will be for sale down the road...maybe the (Chinese?) factory will close on them??

Joe
