I think you can see it in the pictures. Also the total height of the Lionel looks to me to be less than the MTH. In the pictures the Blue is on the MTH GTW and the Brown is on the Lionel CN.

Paul2 I did not measure it but when you look at these pictures I THINK THE LIONEL is a bit shorter so that might help your clearnce issue.

FYI I talked to a person at a very large dealer today that said LIONEL IS NOT GOING TO DO ANOTHER RUN OF THE AUTORACKS!!!!!

I had heard just the opposite yesterday. SOoooo wonder if anyone else has anymore reliable info on this topic direct from LIONEL or from someone WHO HAS SPOKEN WITH SOMEONE AT LIONEL??? Thank you.

Thanks Bill. I did not call Charlie. It could have got more expensive. He gives great deals on stuff. I want to buy more G scale too.

I just got a tracking notice that something's shipped. I'm not in a hurry. I would hope they don't drop the order and they made enough for everyone. I waited a long time for that single tank car I ordered. It's OK because I just plain have too much. Bill, You know what I mean??

Surefire i am with you. I have to think that Lionel is doing a much better job of listening and WATCHING what the customer wants. The Tank Train Cars are a good example of that I think.

Good Day Lionel, Your new auto racks look fantastic! Do you plan to offer more road names in 2013?

I hope they respond to my inquiry.

If you get a response, I suspect it will look something like this:

Mr. Swafford, thank you for taking the time to inquire on our Facebook page, and we're glad you like the recent auto rack cars.  Unfortunately, our policy does not allow us to comment on future product introductions at this time.  However, we strongly encourage you to watch this page closely for further information on upcoming catalog releases from Lionel.  Thank you again!

Or something to that effect.

Well I'm not in a hurry. I bet they're not going to split up sets to fill individuals. I wouldn't do it myself. They haven't let me down yet.

I wonder if Lionel rushed the newer 2 car sets through to get them out with the Motor City one?

Yesterday, Thursday, Mr Brown dropped off the first of the new auto racks. I ordered all of them including the cars from the set. I had asked the question on the height. They are lower then the MTH ones but when I one on the track to check if they would clear through my old Miami wood bridge as Max Well Smart would say missed it by this much. At least I can run them on the lower mains for the time being. My dilema is now to decide whether to take some of the cross bracing inside the bridge out. But overall these car are beautiful.........................Paul

Paul my new Lionel seem to be lower than the MTH RACKS. I did not measure how much but you can see it in the pictures I posted back on page 5. It looks to be atleast 1/8" and maybe a little more. Can you sand a little off the bridge or the ties on the track or a little on both to get your clearnce? Good luck!

Bill,

I'm contemplating adding the six 2-packs as well.  I'm just afraid that I won't have room for them on the layout.  These cars are long, but worth it.  I wonder what Lionel has in mind in regards to the autos that will go inside of these racks.  I just hope that they're not plastic junk.

The BHawks - Stars game last night was awesome.  We won it in OT after trailing 2-0.  I just had that feeling we would come back.  We were buzzing their crease ALL night long.  FUROCIOUS!!  I saw that the Wings won tonight, 5-3.  You beat a good team, MN Wild.  We play you guys in Chicago Sunday night.  That's going to be intense as always.  Looking forward to it.

Thanks for your vote of confidence. The Wild are my team, and while they look good on paper, I am less than convinced that they will make the playoffs. They have the same problem they've always had, can't score enough goals.

Back on topic, I finally got my set with the original two add on cars. Gorgeous! And yes, they will need some extra weight.

Joe & Paul, I'm glad to hear that both of you received your single cars. My cars and the set came this past Wednesday from Charles Ro. I also ordered mine when they first got announced. I was starting to wonder if mine were ever going to come or not? Especially after seeing that others were getting their sets back in December. I did think that it was a little odd that my 5 - 2 packs came at the beginning of the year.

Oh well I only have to wait for a couple more pieces to come to finish out the 2012 vol. 1 catalog.

Paul hard to say what Lionel is going to do about the cars at this point. You probably need to think through your layout a little more so you will knowif you should go with a lot more cars. They are getting very hard to find but I have found more the last 3 days.

Yes the winhs play the hawks Sunday. The wings are in a rebuilding year and probably wont make the playhoffs. I think these early "GAMES" are at best training sessions. I think thery need to play for atleast 4 to 6 weeks brfore we know what kinda teams anybody has,

The wild has the same problen as the wings, lots of new people who need to learn to play together. They had some real bright spots and I think will still be a top team this year. I think this is a true development year for yhe wings and all the new rookies.

Hood luck eliot and your wild.

Received Conrail AutoRacks on Wednesday and looked at the single car and said to myself wish they would have put trucks with rotating bearing caps on these.  Looked at the box again today and noticed it sez Rotationg bearing caps.  Haven't checked the 2pak yet.  Has anyone else seen this?  Haven't looked at this post in awhile.

The "rotating bearing caps" on my Auto Racks don't rotate either.
