Enjoyable review, as usual. I have tried to ignore this loco, then you posted this. Ouch. Thanx a lot.
I passed on a 3rd Rail version a couple of months ago (at a bit more than half the Lionel price), because, well, I just did. I love the N&W streamlined steam - it's almost as nice as NYC styling - and, in some ways, the K2 4-8-2 appeals to me more than the J 4-8-4.
If I pull the trigger, it will be for the Pilot version. Thing is, I kinda built one of these K2's ago. Kinda. Figured no one would ever offer one.
Lionel: I had to search your "store" website for this loco; it should be front and center, deadline and all. Customer frustration is never good. I finally spotted the little menu choice "brass hybrid", just before I gave up and enjoyed saving the money. Haven't decided, yet.
It would appear they need more orders to make the engine. Rarely does a product sample get a review.
