I have a RS-3 Diesel Conventional Christmas Engine. It runs great. I have never done a conversion, but I would like to convert it over to TMCC or Legacy to run on my track. I am seeking advise to see if it is feasible and worth it. Has anyone ever converted a RS-3 over, and if so, what should I purchase to do the conversion, without spending a fortune. I would like the ability to creep, railsounds, electrocouplers, and even smoke.

Well, Boxcar Bill has the ERR Cruise Commander and RailSounds Commander for $185 last time I looked. That will do everything but smoke. I don't know if you'd have room for smoke with the other stuff in there, is that a single motor or dual motor locomotive? My info says dual motored.
Edit: I just looked this up and the motors are in the trucks, so you certainly have room for the two pieces I mentioned, don't know about adding smoke.
Thanks John. Most helpful. Sure would like to see if anyone out there has done it.
I've added the package to a K-Line locomotive that looks just like that one with the motors enclosed in the trucks. I didn't add smoke, but the Cruise Commander and RailSounds commander and speaker all fit in. I even put some people in the cab with cab lights.
Wow...sounds great. Since this will be my first venture does the Cruise Commander and Railsounds Commander come with instructions from ERR? I will have to get with Boxcar Bill. Thanks.
You can download the complete instruction manuals from the ERR site in PDF form.
