Will2926, great review.  Great location for an unveiling and very pleasant and relaxing to watch.  Good job.  I just received my red version earlier this week and gave it a test run.  Needless to say I am very pleased with it.   I also have the Pride Lines  rendition which came out in the late 1980s or early 1990s.  I consider myself very fortunate to have both of these reproductions.  Nevertheless, I wish I could afford to buy an original but that baby is way out of my price range.

The trip was a spur of the moment decision and on the way to Disney World we were thinking of how we would actually do this. After the trip we looked back and everything went to plan and actually better than we thought! It was such a great time and we are so happy to have these handcars! We are lucky to have a lime green variation 1934 Mickey Handcar, it was a great find! Happy Railroading!!

Thank you for sharing!  The little mouse that saved Lionel from going broke in 1932, or so the story goes.  The late Ron Hollander in his book All Aboard!  said that Lionel sold some 250,000 of the Mickey and Minnie Mouse hand cars,  and maybe could have sold 100,000 more if they had the time to manufacture them before Christmas 1934.  Ron noted that at a $1 retail price, Lionel probably sold them for $0.60 to the retailers, so not much profit, but it did put Lionel in the news and helped sell other, higher priced items.

Having seen this video,  I can see why they were so popular 90 years ago.
