Hi GUYZ,

I have a Lionel ES44AC KCS 6-28351, ran real good until last night.  I am running it with Legacy Cab 2.  The problem I have is it will not move in forward or reverse, until I am at about number 64 on the speed dial of the Cab 2 in Legacy mode.  I have checked the gears and even removed the trucks to see if anything is binding it but nothing is wrong.  I looked inside and no wires are rubbing and nothing seems wrong. I did a reset and reprogrammed the engine to no avail.  Any suggestions would be appreciated, before I call Lionel.  Thank you.

Remove the trucks and see if the little tees on the motors are tight on the motor shafts on the bottom. I had that happen on the front motor on a few of these . If that is it you have to replace the motor . It seems to happen on the front motor more  .You can glue the "T"s back on but it won't last. The reason why this haappens is the white grease gets sticky in the trucks and the wheels don't roll well and those pressed Ts on the motor shafts can't take the stress.

Make sure that front truck wheels roll freely . If not it will do it again. If there not rolling good you have to get some bearing oil on those bearings .it's the 2 bearings that hold the shaft on the top of the truck. 4 screws removes the shaft and the 2 bearings .I also had good results putting some oil down there and taking a coreless drill and chucking it to the shaft that drives the wheels and freeing them up with a little oil..My guess is why this happens is white grease gets in those bearings freezes them up. It be nice if those bearings where buyable from lionel ..After I have done this I have never had a issiue with it again.  My advice to anyone that buys any of the diecast es44s is to before you run it make sure it rolls freely . I bought a nib cp rail and learned the hard way ..
