It has been sometime since I ran this locomotive  so I tried to run it today. So I re-programmed the number into the Legacy Remote. The couplers fire , smoke unit , bell, horn and lights work. However when I go to move the locomotive in either forward or reverse, the breaker trips on the 180 w Powerhouse. Nothing happens. The breaker keeps tripping on the Powerhouse.

Any advice on what the problem is?

Thank you in advance for a response.

Shut your smoke off and see if you can get things to happen.  This is an early Legacy with modular boards.  After you put your number in and press set, you still need to put your number in again and press AUX-1 then the niumber 2 for a diesel.  This has nothing to do with the short.  Give the smoke a look.  Give the wheels a good look to make sure nothing from your bench/layout has not attached to the wheels.

The repair shop reported that one of the motors was defective, it was receiving too much current. Which caused the motor driver board to fail causing the insulation to melt which also shorted circuits.

They replaced the motor, driver board and repaired 6 wires.

Part numbers were 691DCDS109 and 6208557602.

Total repair back in 2017 was $246.
