I have the above engine on start up the sounds start then cuts out. I've reseated the boards but I'm at a lose as to where to go next.

This is a non-modular RailSounds 2.5 item, so I'm not sure how you've re-seated the boards.

Try these:

Move the volume control pot up and down a few times to clear any oxidation.

If you have a PLCC chip extractor, pull the two chips from the RailSounds board, wipe with some contact cleaner, and reinstall.

Perform a restore/reset of the LCRU2 electronics in your unit using a "5."
