The dome tooling kills it for me. For some reason they used Santa Fe flat window domes for their model which they applied to many roads.

My problem also. Even the 2500 series aluminum postwar cars look more realistic.
Has anyone confirmed that they are using the flat glass domes in this model? If so this set is a total bust. The Park Car with a flat window dome would be a joke. The FA-2 engines make no sense either, of course. Oh and $200 per car for plastic. Glad I have the great GGD set.
By the way, the 18in K-Line set was beautiful.

That's what the catalog shows and that's the only ribbed car they have. It's either flat glass or UP cars unless they do new tooling.

Well, they don't proclaim "Newly Tooled Dome."
Lionel's been using their Pull-Budd dome for a couple of years now, why would they change?
While CPR had FPA-2's for use on secondary trains, I don't recall ever seeing a photo of them on the Canadian. Standard power was GMD FP7/9's and F7/9B's.
Rusty
Rusty, you are correct. FPA-2s never pulled the Canadian.
Was interesting to see this offering from Lionel. It is a good looking set though. I have the Golden Gate set and love running it totally to scale but much more expensive then the Lionel Set. Here is a link to posts and pictures of the Golden Gate set and pictures of the engines.

Here are some more photos of my Canadian train about 1/3 of the way down the post.
I was happy at first they finally added a dome to the observation car, but like the previously mentioned discrepancies, I think I'll pass.
A few years back I bought the Wabash Bluebird set but sold it because the dome windows drove me nuts. Also compared to my Atlas CZ cars the overall profile of the cars wasn't quite right for a Budd product.
