At the end of January bought a K-line/Lionel CSX SD70MAC. The sku for this KCC exclusive is 2-11556, which indicates was a conventional loco with Railsounds, Diesel exhaust and cruise control, but it's been modified so with the possible exception of sounds it's possibly irrelevant. I'll pose my questions before going into my rundown: Can this locomotive's problems be rectified with the current assortment of boards? If not, considering all I really have is a working R2LC08, would a cruise commander and railsounds kit be enough?
The seller told me that he had tried to upgrade it to TMCC and "added a k-line board in the back.." but apparently could never get it to work. I don't have a manual and cannot find one on-line.
I'll start with what's funky- the boards*:
RS Power Board: 691-RSRP-A00
Railsounds Board: 691-PCB-A04(w/ labels RS27D012....OEM1F3b aka generic diesel railsounds)
Both of the above connect via 24 pin connector to
TMCC Motherboard: 691-PCB-09F Rev. A (this board is for a small steam tender)
Radio Board: 691-R2LC-C (R2LC08) pins connect to
691-PCB1-0B9 Rev. A(mother board for small steam loco)**
Cruise: MDK-090 Rev. A(Cruise control version 4.0)

**-This board screws into two plastic posts extending from the loco frame, one of these posts is broken causing the board to move. Have tried to fix it using a piece of styrofoam from an HO loco but it still shifts.
There's multiple other wires connecting these boards. Both mother boards are connected correctly w/ hot/ground and connect to the The 4 pin connector that goes to the cruise board.
What doesn't work:
Loco goes FULL SPEED right away. It should go without saying cruise doesn't work either
Sounds- no railsounds, no signal sounds. No horn, no whistle, nada in the sounds Department
What works:
R2LC08-Loco has TMCC- it has a functional R2LC08 and I am able to program it using the reverse lock out switch and run it in fwd/reverse. I have tried 2 other R2LC08s in this loco and they have all functioned the same in the loco and functioned normally when put back into their previous locos(one from a K-line F40PH w/ tmcc, rs, smoke cruise....one from a Lionel Milwaukee Road h16-44 w/ TMCC, smoke, and odyssey)
Directional lighting, oscillating ditch lights when "horn" is pressed
diesel exhaust(although the smoke unit is putting out diesel exhaust like a five alarm fire, but that's not my focus at the moment)
I have an extra, working K-line cruise control board ver. 4.0 board but haven't tried it if only because there seems to be other issues to tackle first AND I don't want to risk ruining it.
Help, insight & info greatly appreciated! If I do need a new motherboard, and I suspect that's the case, I don't have a preference with how I supplement that motherboard- whether it's ERR, an odyssey driver board, or K-line cruise. As long as I can run it in command with speed control and sounds I'll be a happy camper because I love the look of this loco and really want to get it up and running properly!
