The above mentioned train runs great, but after about 20 mins. of running, the sound will drop out.  If I power down and start it up again, the sound is there.  Anyone else experience something similar on a Legacy engine?  Anything I should check/try before having it fixed by a pro?

Thanks.

I had the same problem / same engine / and narrowed it down to a PW operating searchlight car. Apparently the vibrating motor in the searchlight car somehow interfered with the RS signal.  Once I removed the car from the layout the problem went away.  I remember reading somewhere that the PW operating generator car caused the same issue.  Good luck on chasing the gremlin.

Have you tried cleaning the track and the locomotive and tender's rollers?

I have a Legacy H7 that will drop its sound after 1/2 hour of running... right in the same spot. I was going to add the recommended 9 volt battery, but then it dawned on me it was dirty track...

The TMCC steam engines we have just pick right up after a dead spot (switch, crossing, etc.) with the chuffing restarting. The Legacy steam engines seem to have a software flaw where the chuff does not automatically restart over a dead spot and sadly require a battery in the tender to avoid becoming silent.

Agree, at least if a 9V battery is in that'll determine if it's track or Loco issue.
