I recently purchased a KW and while the A side direction button works fine, the B side doesn't. The Bside throtle works. The e unit cycles correctly every time I turn the throtle back and forth. The whistle works fine too.
Looking for pointers on where I may start troubleshooting.

You are going to have to remove the top and see of the spring and a little plastic stem is in the hole, that is what breaks the circuit...

Yep, checked there. The (graphite?) rods are there under both button springs. That is what's vexing. Everything seems to be there. Just not making contact somewhere.
Not the worst thing. I can still control tge train fine with the throtle but still, would be convenient to have the button working.
The plastic rod pushes down on a metal strip which then bends the strip down and away from the electric contact opening the circuit. If the metal strip gets on top of the contact (should be under) then pushing the button will not open the circuit.
Thanks Kent. I put a small piece of felt inside the button and that seems to have done the trick by giving the rod a little more distance to go.

Good deal. The Push Button Rod is part 20-43 should be 1.128" long or about 1-1/8".
