I'm going to be adding Lionel Legacy control to my layout. Anyone care to share their experiences and/or opinions on Lionel's Legacy equipped 4-4-2 Atlantic?

My Lionel "Lindberg Special" Atlantic is just that. Superb runner, great sounds and whistle steam smoke bonus. Runs on 031. I posted a video when I first received it. No downsides.
I agree. Very little negative to say although if you look under the hood it's pretty jammed in there and I have the early version w/o smoking whistle. The only issue I could possibly say I have with mine is between speed step 12 and 22 mine has a barely noticeable vibration.
Great whistle and sound. Runs well other than what I stated.
Great looking, nice detail, runs well, sounds are terrific. Mine sits on its heels a bit so all the weight pivots on the rear drivers, which makes it wobble with every track imperfection. It needs some added weight to plant it on all four drivers. This is true of my mth premier Atlantic as well.
I now own 3 of them . Great little engines, They pull great and I love their look. I had a total of 4 of them until Lionel refunded me for one of them. 3 out of the 4 have had to be returned to Lionel for Aux smoke (whistle smoke) problems, seems there is a gasket in the smoke unit which was stopping the fan from blowing. Lionel made the repair and now they are fine. I have only had this last one for about 2 weeks and so far it is perfect. (knock on wood). For the money (around $600.00) you get Legacy and whistle smoke in a steam engine, I don't think we will see that again from Lionel.
I had a hard time locating this last one. Good Luck.
Thanks for the comments! I ordered mine today, and hope too have the legacy control installed by the time the Atlantic arrives.
Hey Jim,
I agree with the others Legacy control with my Lindbergh Atlantic is absolutely superb! Great smooth speed operation and great sound control. Legacy enhances the playability of the engines.
Here is a video to prove my point.
