Hi

I have a Lionel Legacy system from the first run.  I got it with the JLC Big Boy from a few years ago so my Legacy will be out of warranty.  The other day the controller worked fine.  Yesterday and today I tried to turn it on and nothing happened.  I tried a few different sets of batteries so that would not be the problem.  Is there anything I can do from home to fix it because shipping to Lionel from Canada would be very expensive.

Thanks in advance

I agree with those above, the first run of legacy command sets have a few issues.

Its in need of a software upgrade to work correctly, and theres likely a base charger issue.

I would recommend sending them an email via the "service/repair question" heading at this link.

                     Lionel Contact Us

Fill out the all of the info it asks for, and be specific about the fact you have an "early version" ( I think those are version 1.0) of the Legacy command set.

You should get a response same or next day.

Its been my experience in the past that the "Lionel techs" read the email, calling could lead to a frustrating experience with the customer service lady.

I respectfully disagree with you ricko on using the link you provided.  if you notice there is also a mail address on the same link which is to Concord NC, so like using that link your message will also go to Concord NC.

use talktous at (@) lionel.com.  the reason I say this is because I used the link and sent them a message for servicing.  several days later having not heard anything I used talktous and the email was answered the same day.  the email said "I don't know what is happen over there use talktous for faster service."

so now I always use talktous at (@) lionel.com

Roughly a year since I last contacted Lionel through the "service/repair question". I suppose anythings possible with the "revamping" as of late. No offense taken

A year ago and prior I received prompt responses from "service/and repair" regarding repairs and parts alike.

I even had a "feature" issue on an out of warranty loco that they took care of, all expenses paid.
