Are you saying they're selling RS5 chips and boards?
There are quite a few RS5 boards available now. You'll need to check the spares website for specific locomotives to be sure as to which ones though.
I checked the PRR mike and the Conrail Sd70M and I don't see them selling those sound boards.

Can you give me a specific example of an RS5 board for sale? I see the RS4 models, but I didn't see any RS5 boards.
Hmmm. Things must have changed in the past few weeks. The last time I looked, the RS5 boards for the DD35A's and several other locomotives were available. But now they are not anymore. Perhaps there was a limited supply that has now been depleted?
Could be, I didn't find any in my search.

Getting a later versions of Railsounds might appear to be a good thing but its unlikely the crew and tower talk will match your particular engine as I recently found out with my RS5 tender bought replace one with RS4. If the sounds are for generic steam or diesel then this would be a positive development.

True, but many of the later locomotives have dispensed with the specific information for generic crew/tower talk.
