I was recently told the person who mfg the horns either retired or passed away. Does anyone know the truth behind this rumor? Either way I'm sorry to hear this

There could be truth to this. This hobby has a large aging demographic.
I wished that when Lionel issued remakes it would have installed electronics to simulate postwar horns and whistles.

Alan,
Horns perhaps I can understand, but with respect to whistles they have issued a number of steam remakes over the years with genuine air whistles in the tenders.
Are they not good enough?

I haven’t heard the more modern impeller driven air whistles. If they’re reliable and sound like a good postwar that would satisfy me. I’ve only purchased diesel re-issues A retro-fit kit could be a welcomed item. Thanks for the information.
