Have a Lionel Maritime Exploration GP38 RTR 6-30287, diesel locomotive 6-38237 where the sounds are idle only.  Sounds do not rev up or advance with throttle increase.  The locomotive has Railsounds.  The instruction manual is no help on problem solving.

Is there any factory reset or other whistle/bell combinations that can reset the locomotive sounds?

Bruce, there is a video of this locomotive on YouTube.  The horn and bell effects are good as were crew talk and engine sounds.  I tried to listen for acceleration sounds but the locomotive takes off like a bat-out-of-heck when the throttle was moved.  I sense this is a very early railsound locomotive.  You have engine sounds but I don't think there was any feedback from the throttle or motor to allow increasing and decreasing  rpm's.

My Maritime does rev up and down with speed.

What I would like is the option to use a 9 volt battery for sound drop outs.

However, by looking at the pics here I don't seem to have that option on my Maritime board.

If I knew how to solder the wires into the board, I would try.

Nice little engine which I  would sell if someone was interested...excellent condition with box ect.

George, John,

Thanks for your help.  When George pointed out the speed pick up that goes into the Railsound-Mass board I was relieved because of the potential cost $$$ for the client.  I found numerous steel wool shrads or other metallic debris on the 'pick-up' wheel.  Cleaned everything, took all the buildup off all wheels,  center rail pick-ups and the speed sensor.   Test ran the locomotive on my layout and the speed sounds came up.  It took some time, but the increase in sounds was evident.

The above photo shows the 'speed sensor' and the white connector with the black/purple wires that go to the Railsound-Mass board.

Again, thanks.  Hope this post sheds some light on how the speed increase is transmitted to the board.
