I have a kline tmcc gp38 and it has generic railsounds 4. Will a railsounds 5.5 board work in replacement of the old railsounds 4.

The RS 5.5 board is Legacy, but my experience is that the steam boards appear to work fine. However, the diesel boards won't keep the prime mover RPM up when you're moving, that function doesn't respond to the serial data from the R2LC. What will happen is the prime mover will drop back to idle RPM after the initial ramp-up. The other sounds are fine.
If you're really "hard-over" on doing this, you can put a reed switch on a wheel with a magnet and pipe that to the RS 5.5 board sensor input, that will fix that problem.
Do you know where to get one of those sensors ans how it is installed. This is my first railsounds swap
The RS 5.5 board I tried with my EOB equipped 3rdrail Niagara was flaky and intermittent. If you can find a 5.0 board, those work with older TMCC all day long.
Gary, can you be more specific? I've used the RS 5.5 boards and had no issues with them.
