Opened up my new rocket booster set to test out the engine, was surprised that Lionel's QC department had developed it's own Diesel Steam-Chuff Line! A nice steady chuffing noise, just like the prototypical real world diesels that have steam powered engines like the ES44AC!

(In all seriousness - the chassis seems to wobble quite a bit, it was exacerbated putting it on the Marx roller which brought out the "chuffing" noise. Debating if it's worth risking shipping damage... or keep my wibbly-wobbly diesel as is for the giggles. Figured someone will appreciate the humor at the expense of Lionel's QC)

I would say check the traction tires for high spots. Sometimes they need to be reseated. I’ve also had engines wobble on those rollers but no so much on the track.

Agree. Most of the time traction tires have a flat/low spot because the engine sat on the wheels in a Styrofoam container.

Put your chin on the bench and see if the wheels are rising  up and going down on the rollers. If it's quiet and doesn't wobble as bad on the track. I'd lube it and run the tires in.

They can flat spot again sitting on the rails in the yard. That's why my engines all get shelved on the flanges when not in use.
