Lionel sc-2 wiring

I am in the process of wiring my sc-2 to all my accessories. I'm hoping someone can tell me if 22 gauge stranded wire is what I should use? Also, where is the cheapest place to buy 22 gauge stranded wire? It sure isn't my hobby shop

I'm also wondering if I was going to put constant voltage to a lionel 1122 switch, what gauge wire should I use. Thank you.

#22 should work for most accessories unless they draw a lot of current. The SC2 will handle up to 15 amps, so if you can go up a notch or two in size, that would be good. For long runs to the accessories, I'd probably go larger as well.
