An old Lionel SD40 of mid-1990s vintage is to be the truck-motor assembly donor for another project. Search as I may and searched I have, I cannot find a parts diagram so that I can even use the correct terminology for the God-forsaken-cheap-little-clip-things that secure the trucks to what they laughingly call a frame. The "little thingies" grasp a "stake" that protrudes from the top of the truck, passes through crescent shaped opening in the "frame" and is equipped with a spring to maintain pressure between the truck and frame.
Does anyone know the proper term for the God-forsaken-cheap-little-clip-things? More importantly, does anyone know how to get them off without destroying them? Failing that, is there a source for new ones to replace those destroyed in the removal process?
Lionel richly deserves the competition that has overtaken them.
